About Me
Hi, I'm Laurien (she/her), a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) and somatic trauma therapist. My approach to therapy is rooted in empathy, empowerment, and transformation. I believe our bodies are designed to heal on every level, including the healing of trauma in the nervous system. My support is focused on relational and attachment healing. I’m also a mom, wife, and friend of dogs. I love being in nature, being by water, connecting with others, and I value times of solitude. The mountains of Colorado have been my home for twenty-two years.
I have been a body-centered therapist since 2004. Early in my career I supported individuals and groups as a licensed massage therapist, Zen Shiatsu practitioner, and Yoga instructor. Then I worked as a clinician in community mental health for three and a half years before starting my private practice in 2021. My focus is on individuals and couples struggling with grief, disconnection, conflict, shame, attachment and relational trauma, anxiety, codependency, and power imbalances. I offer a safe space where it’s okay to not feel okay. My therapy dog, Bee, loves people and offers her support too.
My Education & Training
I graduated with my Master’s in Social Work from Colorado State University, and my Bachelor’s degree in Interdisciplinary Studies from Wheaton College. I hold certifications in Somatic Experiencing® (SEP), Yoga (CYT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Massage Therapy (no longer practicing). Additionally, I draw from the trainings I have completed with Terry Real and Stan Tatkin, my education in Family Systems Therapy, and Attachment Theory as I offer support to both individuals and couples.
My Approach: relational, down to earth, creative, nonjudgmental, body-centered, warm, supportive.
